Some Park History
Another historical photo of Trinity Bellwoods park from the Kiwanis Boys Club photos via park neighbor Gene. In this circa 1935 photo you can see the beautiful American elm tree that still stands on Crawford just north of lane in the south end of the park. In the background are the houses on Crawford Street, the Artscape building and the Candy Factory.
The tree would be about 30 years old which makes it, today, over 100 years old. Also of note is that it's a rare, hardy survivor of the Dutch Elm disease plague of the 50s and 60s, unlike many other elms in the park.
