Community garden prep 2023
The greenhouse is located just south east of the recreation centre along the fire lane access path. It is approximately 18 metres sq. (200 ft. sq.) and was built January 2008 by the ‘Green Force’ TV show and gifted to the Friends with the help of then current Councillor, Joe Pantalone. At the time there was a green house committee with use and access coordinated by a volunteer for the small dedicated group. With rules and such to keep it a clean, safe and functioning condition. Space was limited with short-term use for things like seedlings etc.
Community Garden installation update
Update 2024: The city is supposed to install raised beds in spring. The garden’s opening would follow, date tbd. The plots have been assigned to community members and they have been patiently waiting. The intention is to have a prosperous community garden with raised beds and accessible paths. Once we feel the garden has been completed up to standard, we hope to hold community events that we’ll be sure to share with you all. The pauses on our plans has been frustrating to say the least.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding to the first round of gardeners selected to participate in the inaugural Trinity Bellwoods Park Community Garden (TBPCG)
Jessica, Volunteer co-ordinator of TBPCG

Community garden update June 29, 2023
Thank you for your patience everyone! We’re so excited to get our hands dirty with you soon. There were some issues with the irrigation system, which has delayed the in-ground garden plots. We will send those who expressed interest an garden plot form to fill out. From there, we’ll decide the first group of gardeners! More to come! Thank you again for waiting for patiently :). Jess
Community Garden update Sept. 19, 2022
Most of us have noticed the metal fencing is up. We do not have a timeline yet from Parks as to next steps. We are awaiting word from them and will update everyone once we have. It’s an inviting space, but please no dogs/pets are allowed or using space for activities other than what is is planned for. The ground/earth is best kept as neutral as possible for pending food – vegetables and plants! We understand people are excited to find out how to be a part of the gardens! In this meanwhile, you may email via the website contact page – important to select ‘greenhouse’ for the subject line. The volunteer leads and/or coordinator can collect names/emails of those interested.

Update on greenhouse community garden plans August 2021
As we work with the City to build back the greenhouse garden we put out a call late August 2021 to get your thoughts on our initial plans. Our goal is to revitalize the surrounding area into a community garden that will allow more people to grow their own food and get involved! Thank you to all those that sent in comments. We will keep you posted here and on our socials as things progress!
Pandemic Update 2021
Operating changes were planned by Parks for 2020, but the pandemic has slowed this all down. We don’t know if it will be run as a Community Garden or in another model. We are in a holding pattern till we are informed of next steps. Sign up for our newsletter and follow our platforms, we will circulate updates when we have them.
